SBE started life in France in 1987 as a specialist repairer of telephony equipment and switchboards. The 67 people who started SBE came from telecoms manufacturing giant CGCT. The new company was able to quickly draw from the strong industrial background and electronics expertise of its founding members. At the start of the 90s, SBE began repairing mobile phones for companies such as Motorola, Siemens and Sony. A key success factor was SBE’s ability to apply industrial logic and scale derived from its manufacturing background to the repair and service industry.
Fast forward 20 years, SBE has become one of the largest independent electronic repair companies in Europe, with 3000 employees working in one of 12 regional service facilities across the globe. SBE has become a key repair partner for consumer goods manufacturers and provides after-sales services for an increasingly wide range of products (incl. flat-panel displays, small domestic appliances, set-top boxes, medical equipment, etc.) To complement this, SBE’s software division has developed a unique digital customer care platform called GlobalCare, designed to simplify and streamline the management of reverse customer journeys (repairs, returns, buy-back, etc.).
